Title: Unpleasant experience despite positive online reviewsProblem: Kitchen sink was leaking between its base and garbage disposal. The most probable cause was the seal attaching the disposal to the sink base was bad. Priority: This was not an emergency. For the following five days, I used a bucket to catch the water and the garbage disposal still worked. Selection: I got five estimates and chose CTH for his price and numerous positive online ratings. Pluses: Tom arrived within the projected time frame. He completed the work for the agreed price, nothing is leaking, and the new garbage disposal works. He wore a mask and took his shoes off every time he came inside my home. Minuses: Tom and I clearly have seriously different ideas on what constitutes good customer service and the way to successfully resolve problems. 1. He asked me to describe the problem then noticed he didn't seem to be listening. I asked him and he "admitted" he was "ignoring" "everything" I was telling him. 2. I inspected the disposal every day before he arrived. There was no hole in it and the water was visibly flowing from the top, down the back, and onto the cabinet floor. Yet, he said the cause of the leak was a hole he "found" in the bottom. All I can say is the hole wasn't there before he came. And water doesn't flow from bottom to top. 3. Despite the fact we could see the water dripping from the top, he told me I was "wrong" and it was only leaking from the bottom of the disposal. On planet Earth water doesn't flow upward. The disposal had to be replaced because of the (new) hole. 4. Even though he knew a new disposal may be the issue, he did not have one on his truck and it took longer than he expected to get one. When he returned, he complained (his own) delay would make him late for his next customer. This is not what a current customer wants to hear. 5. I found it unprofessional when he badmouthed other plumbers who worked on my sink even though there was nothing objectively wrong with my plumbing or the repairs. To date, service personnel were always careful to "not" say anything bad to me about prior work. 6. The major problem was although the plywood cabinet floor was still damp, he did nothing to support his weight and ended up poking a 6" by 4" hole in the plywood. 7. I texted him politely asking what he would do to fix what he broke. Seventeen texts (yes, 17) and four voice-mails later, all he did was call me a liar, insult my home, and he texted he was "lucky" he didn't get a splinter (recall: because of his own negligence). Was this a veiled threat to sue me if he had gotten one? You tell me. Finally, I ask you all who wants to work with someone who damages your property, refuses to fix it, and implied he could sue you due to his own negligence? Not me.

One of you're trucks was overly speeding, aggressive, swerving, panic attack level anxiety and reckless. South on 270, nearGaithersburg exit May 5 at 1:50pm. I bet w such a small operation it was the owner or family. Please slow down and drive safer. Embarrassing.

Tom was the only plumber I called who responded promptly and took the time to diagnose my problem over the phone so he didn't need to come out at all and did not make any money from me. I appreciated his honesty and his promptness and will definitely use him for any plumbing issues in the future.

Mr. Hardisty is competent and efficient. Hes always reasonable with his rates. My husband and I choose him for all plumbing needs and hes fantastic each time. Wouldnt call anyone else.
