Dishonest, has bad reviews somehow removed. Reposting my friends (now nonexistent)review. this is by far the worst excuse of a hardware establishment i have ever visited. for many years now, i always had distaste for any ace hardware. is it the nosy employees, who always seem to outnumber customers? or the sky high prices they demand in order to pay all of them? or could it be their profound inability to cut any key properly? well my friends, it is all of the above, however the reason i write my review today tops all as the most despicable offense committed by the ACE hardware devil family. here i am, in the midst of a pandemic. jobless (perhaps permanently), isolated, and absolutely nothing to quiet the tension in the community and the internal depression, gnawing away at me. I stopped at my neighborhood Ace Hardware. a conscious choice, by the way, in a time that is especially difficult for small and locally owned businesses. i was doing my part and saying NO to big box stores down the street. Heading for the adhesive aisle, i was asked if needed help finding anything. i said no thank you, and squinted at labels to find the wood glue to suit my needs. it wasn't long before another employee asked if i needed help finding anything. i said no thanks, i'm just deciding, but maybe you know whether or not you have a certain type of fiberglass tape i want to use for bookbinding. he was unsure, but stood there and watched me for another second before saying... you know mam, we aren't really open for browsing..... essentials only. OK FIRST OF ALL, NOT BROWSING. I KNEW EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED. SECOND OF ALL, THIS IS ESSENTIAL TO ME. if people can go get their mcdonald's, and the liquor store is open, AND the Ace Hardware is OPEN for business how can they then discern if what customers are buying are essentials? me: yessir thats what in getting, essentials. ace hardware: wrinkles nose, ha, no those items are unessential. me: losing patience um they sure the **** are ace hardware: i'm going to have to ask you to move along, we are open for essentials only. me: if its only essentials, what exactly are you doing here? ace hardware: I WORK HERE. YOU DONT. that was all the evidence he could muster as to why i wasn't important enough to buy some damn wood glue??????????? ace hardware i do declare. in these times of uncertainty. mental health is so important to maintain. the dystopian reality we live in today required kindness from others, some kind of oasis, and PROJECTS. lots of projects. i was denied that basic human right and i will never ever be a customer to ace hardware as long as i live.
