The Richardson Hotel

I stayed here during the April 8 2024 solar eclipse for the first time and I have to say its one of the most beautiful buildings Ive ever been in. The modern renovations complement the original architecture beautifully and the museum on the first floor was fantastic. The rooms themselves are fantastic, the ceilings are massive and the windows are incredible allowing tons of natural light in both the hotel rooms and hallways. Staff at the hotel were fantastic and the event they put on for the eclipse was great. I would recommend The Richardson to anyone staying in the Buffalo area. Rooms: Rooms are beautifully appointed, modern and clean. They feature tall ceilings and massive windows allowing beautiful views of the grounds and plenty of natural light. Walkability: A fair number of stores and restaurants in the area. The grounds are huge and lovely to walk around. There is a bike rental stand near the front gate on Forest Avenue.

Our first visit to the hotel. The history behind it is awesome. If you like movies like the "Shining", this is the hotel for you. The rooms are very comfortable, spacious, and bright. The bed and bathroom were clean, and there were no overpowering smells of cleaning agents. You are better off planning to have breakfast away from the hotel. The breakfast offered is horrible, and the lack of food is the first thing we notice. Breakfast was supposed to be served until 10. We were there at about 9:30 and there was nothing there. There was nobody to pick the used plates and no place to put the garbage. Everything was overfilled with dirty dishes, and the garbage can was overflowing. Rooms: Clean. Nearby activities: Uber to get around attractions. Safety: Good. Food & drinks: Breakfasts was horrible!

The hotel staff was really great. Mason was very attentive to my needs. He is wonderful. The room lacked a little in cleanliness. The blow dryer was packed with lint and the bed linens showed some old stains. Overall, it was comfortable and above average. Maritza, the waitress in the bar area was exceptional. She also made an uncomfortable situation with the waitress at the Cucina restaurant better when Amy failed to serve the Arancini I ordered and was even a bit confrontational in regard to the order. Again, Maritza is a huge asset to the facility, she is exceptional. I would recommend this establishment.

It's a touch confusing where the entrance of the hotel is but follow Google maps and/or the signs and you will get there. Its amazing from the rooms, to the restaurant and bar, Cucina! Beautiful place to get away for a night or for a longer stay!!
