Carnegie Barber Shop

I really hate writing negative reviews and generally only take the time to write a review if it was positive but my haircut was bad enough to the point where I feel that I have to warn others. I came in with a simple request which I have never had trouble with. All I wanted to do was clean up the sides and take half an inch off the top. Next thing you know I look down and I see 2+ inch strands of hair falling down from the top of my head. Was this due to incompetence? Arrogance? Probably a mixture of both. I'm choosing to take this experience as a lesson learned. Instead of going to my regular and proven barber, I chose to give the local barbershop a shot as it was a short walk away and I just needed a quick maintenance haircut. Never again.

Not good with straight and stubborn Asian hair. Hair looks extremely choppy and unkempt. Disappointed.

Update April 2024: I remain a loyal customer to this barber shop. Truly the best cut in Manhattan. I have lots of respect for my barber and now consider her a friend. I don't want to rave too much, else it will get too busy. No appointments, and bring cash to pay, and leave a generous tip. --- Update April 2021, once the shop reopened, I started coming back, and Violeta has been my barber. She is absolutely fantastic and very friendly. She works on Fridays and Saturdays, so I also make sure to plan my haircuts around her availability. --- Walked in first thing Saturday for a haircut with Jimmy. We connected over Central FL and got a great haircut with a great conversation from a great barber.
