Disgusting experience. I brought the shoes back to the store and I was told that I wore them but I only tried them on once and the salesperson was very very rude.

I have just had a very humiliating experience at the Bottega Veneta store on Madison Avenue. I went to the store to buy a purse for my daughter who said the vibrant green bag was in her wishing list given her exceptional academic performance associated with her behavior and values, I was happy to surprise her first time with a designer bag she loved. Hence I believe that one has to work for this luxury things, not because I cannot afford it, but as part of the core values I raised my kids on "work for what you wish to have". At the store, I was greeted by a sales person who pleasantly showed me different models in the color she likes. I commented to him that it was my daughters first expensive bag, and that she had earned many academic awards, plus had done numerous good deeds, and she saw my new channel bag and she said Bottega Veneta was her dream bag, and I was very happy to surprise her with one for meritocracy with her 21 BD coming soon. Note, I ran to the store without changing my outfit as I wanted to surprise her before she left back to college. The seller additionally showed me also a beautiful dark green bag which I decided to buy for myself, making it two bags. I gave my Amex card to pay, and he asked for my ID. I said that had never happened to me before. He said there were too many fraudes in that specific area as many people wanted those bags and they were giving fake cards and everyone was requesting it around the area. I immediately remembered that I was dressed up very modestly, and had my mother with me dressed also in the same modest way, needless to say we are latin, short etc which I am proud of, but at that moment I completely understood I was seeing suspicious for the 2 bags. I immediately felt very bad almost in tears with his explanation as not later than a week ago, I went to the channel store across street- purchased a beautiful purse twice the price of those at Bottega (as I mentioned to the seller when we first met) and no one ever asked for my ID, although it was across street from where this store is located - In other words, "the area is requesting ID's" as he said, as the area had lots of fraudes especially people who wanted those bags, well, the area did not applied for the Channel store, hence I was dressed up a little better for the store visit then. I held the tears and returned the purchase feeling humiliated and to a certain extent discriminated. I called a friend from work who has a couple of bags from that store, she said it had never happened to her, even though on Xmas she was buying there- she seemed annoyed with it as well. I got home feeling very bad, without the bags and thinking on how the world is superficial and how one is judged for its appearance. I wish for this seller, he never has to go through this, especially for "a bag".

A staff member named Maria was very rude. She stopped shopping upstairs looking at the products and said let's go down because she had looked all the way down, and she constantly stopped buying if you're not going to buy it! I spoke in a nuance. It's a place I don't want to go back to again. Please train your staff properly.
