Whole Gardens

Leslie and Aaron transformed our blank slate backyard to a relaxing oasis. We throughly enjoy spending our evening outside looking at our beautifully landscaped yard. We are so thankful we chose Whole Gardens for this project.

I hired Leslie and Aaron of Whole Gardens to remove the lawn in our back yard and create an oasis for us to use. The impetus was the pandemic and our need for a beautiful outdoor space where we could safely gather with friends. They created a patio large enough for four couples to gather, a winding path through the newly designed perennial garden and they even incorporated the arch our son was married under into the design. Leslie is a meticulous planner. She drew a beautiful drawing of her vision of the space. We worked together on selecting the plants, each one carefully chosen for its site (sunny, shady or mixed), height and color. Aaron and his crew worked to remove the lawn, build the patio out of decomposed granite, lay the path, and bring in the subcontractors to put in the irrigation system as well as the concrete wall around the patio. When the plants arrived, Leslie lovingly planted each one, measuring exactly where it should go. She came back later in the fall to plant the bulbs and in February to teach me how to prune the new plants. This year has been a year of wonder for us, our family and our friends. The plants are thriving, the yard is gorgeous and it is even fairly easy to maintain. Aaron and Leslie were always responsive to emails and texts, their timeline for the project was very accurate and they were very pleasant to work with.

Leslie and Aaron were creative and reliable from concept through execution. They listened to our garden preferences, educated us and made workable suggestions. Tasks got done when they said they would be done. We now have pollinator heaven where once there was a slab of weedy grass. The garden is a pleasure to look at and live with year-round, even exceeding the results we hoped for. Leslie and Aaron clearly take great pride in their work, and it shows.

Leslie and Aaron turned our boring patch of grass into a beautiful, native plant garden. Hummingbirds and butterflies entertain us, and the garden resonates with the sound of splashing water, buzzing bees, and bird calls. In addition, Leslie and Aaron were very responsive to our vision for the garden, always had new ideas to share, and were pleasant and cheerful, even when it snowed! I highly recommend Whole Gardens.

Whole Gardens made it clear from the start that they wanted us to have a garden that made us happy. Leslie asked a lot of questions before she started designing. She listened and guided us throw the process to ensure we fell in love with our green space. They meet with us to review the plans, and they were on-site during the whole installation. They have a reliable and talented pool of subcontracts. They were available every step of the installation, and they continued to answer questions and check in on our garden. Our front yard was a brown, dull, and quiet space before Whole Gardens; now, it is alive with birds, insects, pollinators, and color through the seasons. I start the morning with a walk around the garden. Waking up to different textures and colors, the smell of wet earth and plants and birds singing makes my heart smile. In the early spring, the heather and lilacs bloomed and greeted the bees and our guests; the azaleas reminded us that more color was yet to come. Today, the yarrow is growing and blooming, telling us that there are more seasons, textures, and colors coming soon. We are so happy with our vibrant garden!
