Calliope

Interesting items, but poor customer service. Today we spent a few hours' layover at the Portland airport today. Generally it has been a good visit, with good customer service from Security & the Tillamook restaurant. We did have a negative experience at the Calliope store. My 13 year old daughter, who is generally a very responsible/straight A student, picked up a small item to examine it and accidentally dropped it when putting it back into the bowl, with it hitting the floor. One of the employees, an older lady wearing a yellow shirt, immediately & loudly embarrassed her, using a sing song voice to say "you broke it, you buy it!" My daughter was very embarrassed and burst into tears. We 100% support taking responsibility in paying for it, but there was no need for the rudeness nor to embarrass her in front of the whole store. I expressed this sentiment to another employee whose response was "okkkk." After leaving the store and examining the item, it looks cheaply made, with no visible evidence of adhesive to hold it together.

Staff here was super nice! Very bubbly and welcoming! Fun store to browse while waiting for your flight. Great gifts for a friend or yourself!

Cute airport store filled lots of cool stuff for tourists to get! Very nice staff. I got a few items when I first arrived in Portland.
