Philly City Foot Doc - Kimberly Nguyen DPM PC, Podiatrist, Laser nail

Extremely pushy with laser therapy when I mainly came in for a separate issue. I was getting the laser performed on me before I could finish reading the contract and sign it. I should have said something but felt pressured. I really disliked this and I wont be coming back.

Definitely won't be coming back. The doctor was far too pushy trying to sell products, ignoring my concerns, and gave incorrect information about usage of a prescription product. She told me a particular RX I'd been using needed to be applied to all toes, in contradiction to both the recommended use and my prior doctor. She was insistent on filing all my nails even after I told her I didn't want it done. I kept having to steer her back to solutions that would be covered by my insurance rather than out of pocket. This is a sales operation with little regard for the patient. My feet are worse off now than before the visit. I wish I'd never come

Place to go if you need a podiatrist! Dr. Nguyen and her staff are all great! She is very knowledgeable and a great conversationalist too! Note that outside of the doctor's visit fee itself, the laser procedure for toenail fungus and treatment products are likely not covered by insurance, due to it being considered an elective cosmetic procedure. But that is no fault of hers, just how insurance companies classify it. The alternative for toenail fungus is a pill that while is covered by insurance can have problematic side effects (mostly liver) and may not even be that effective. When I initially saw my primary doctor about it, he did give me the option of the pill but said it would not be a pleasant process. While it has taken me quite a few treatments, I'm well on my way to almost fungus free toe nails (I had a very severe case).

Good care, but beware of buying add on products not covered by insurance. Dr. Win did a good job of carving off my corn. Then she sold me some inserts for $65 that came apart the same day. Also sold me pain medication that it turns out I don't need. Don't buy anything unless you are sure you need it. It is likely you can get it cheaper at CVS or online. Ask for an itemized receipt and review it before you leave the office. I feel taken.

Dr. Kim is the best Podiatrist here, there were a few others who aren't there anymore, so ask for Dr. Kim when you make an appointment. The office is old looking, but it's clean and they are using the latest laser technology, best products and they've got everything digital. Booking an appointment and paying your bill online is all a breeze here and I greatly appreciate that from this small, yet efficient medical practice.
