If I could give them zero stars, I would. This year was my first year at Texas State, and my experience with going to Texas State could have been better. I moved to Chautauqua Hall in October and thought my roommate and I would have a good year. It was the complete opposite. My roommate would let people spend the night in our room without my permission, which could be up to one to five people. She would let friends access our closet and even close the curtains. When I would go into the closet afterward, I would notice that my things would be around, or a friend would move stuff around on my closet shelf to make room for their items. There were also times when her guest felt comfortable utilizing my side of the room to store their stuff and even leave food and drinks on my furniture (This is the item I brought from home). She and her friends would come during quiet hours, and it would be loud, and it could be on a school night. She would also Turn on lights, blast loud music, make a bunch of noises, and bring friends in. She would also let a guy stay in the room and spend the night and would even do sexual things while she was asleep. She gives people her keys to let them come in and out of our room as they please; my roommate also has a cleanliness problem. Drinking and smoking would occur as well, and it would be constantly to break our roommate agreement and housing policies and rules. Even the day she moved out, she told me to leave while she packed to move because she could control herself with me now in the room, and she moved her and mom's damaged property in a week. I have spoken to the RA, the RD, and housing, and they are fully aware of the situation but have decided to take their precious time on it. Their only resolution was for me to move campus into a different building with an ant and mold problem, not to mention I have a single mother with an autistic brother who we just recently found has an enlarged heart with scarring in it. We have mentioned our situation to them but didn't get any resolution other than me moving out. I don't have any friends I know here, and not only that, I was going to get an upcharge of $3000 to my bill for them to put in a single room. I want to warn other people about the housing issues that Texas has.
