Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?Gastroenterology is an exciting field, in that it involves numerous organs of the body and thus numerous disease processes. There is also a nice blend of intellectual and procedural activity. The difference in the inpatient and outpatient practice of Gastroenterology also keeps things fun.Do you have a specialty of interest within GI?The beauty of Gastroenterology is that all the areas within the specialty are of interest to me. One day may be filled with colon cancer screening in the outpatient setting, the next day inflammatory bowel disease, followed by GI bleeding in the hospital.Where did you study?Undergrad: Baylor University, Medical School: The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, Residency and Fellowship: Wake Forest University/Baptist Medical CenterWhat certifications do you hold?MD Board Certified in Internal Medicine and GastroenterologyWhat do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?Having children in high school pretty much takes care of the spare time. My wife and I are very involved with the kids activities of Taekwondo and band. We spend a lot of time with the high schoolers at Whites Chapel UMC.
