From the moment you walk into this community, you can sense the quality and and attention to detail. The staff is easy to work with and have genuine interest in the folks that live here. People are usually out and about and smiling as I walk through the building, and the activity calendar is robust and engaging! The administrator can always be found out of his office visiting with folks and making sure the building is in top shape. Some places just feel good, and this is one of those places!

The housekeeping manager at this facility hires his family which has led to unkempt areas and employee conflict Some needs to look into the hiring practices and the upkeep of the facility.

My mother has been living at Discovery Village, Southlake, Assisted Living for 20 months. We have been very happy with the level of care that she has received. They have a number of activities both in the building and out. The food is not gourmet, but is good. The Physician's Assistant that she sees is excellent. She is very quick to respond and sees her in her apartment. Any complaints within the community have been addressed quickly. There has not been a huge turnover in staff since she has been there which contributes to the stability of the community. I would definitely recommend Discovery Village, Southlake, Assisted Living for your loved one.

This facility was amazing when Ms. Kathy was there. After she retired, it went downhill FAST. My father was a resident in the assisted living portion for a year. Over the course of the year, his health declined and we saw the care for him drop. To begin, part of your VERY EXPENSIVE monthly fee is weekly cleaning of the room and laundry service. His room was never cleaned by their staff, we cleaned it every time we were there (almost daily). The laundry service is a joke. My father had other peoples clothing put in his room, everything was returned inside out, folding barely existed. When staff came in to assist him or check on him, they helped themselves, without permission to the food he had on the counter in the small kitchen area. If he pushed the button for assistance, it would take upwards of 30 minutes, some days, even 45-50 minutes. They mishandled my fathers medication for a week and it took a lot of phone calls to track down exactly what was happening. They would put him in his wheelchair and just leave him there, which led to multiple falls DAILY. There is a female resident there who actively bullies a lot of the other residents and staff is fully aware but does nothing about it unless family makes requests. The lead staff (upper management) will give you lip service. Lots of smoke and mirrors. Finally, we decided to move my dad to a facility that would provide him more 1:1 care. The day we went to tell him (5 days before his lease was up), he had a medical emergency. My father left in an ambulance and we cleaned out his room to move him. Nobody ever called to check on him, even though he was still considered a resident. Your family members are just dollar signs to them. I will say this, Robert is the most amazing and compassionate human being. He not only took care of my dad but cared about our entire family. We miss Robert. The ladies at the front desk are very kind too but beyond their scope and responsibilities, you will be very disappointed.

I have lived here a little over a year and have never regretted choosing Discovery over others I checked out. My sons say it is "lovely" here and I concur. I have made good friends here and have gotten to know the staff. Christian, the Medical Director, is exceptional and welcoming always; Don, the Director, is great and always has a listening ear. The general staff, from servers in the dining room to staff on the floors to activities staff to business office staff, etc are involved, encouraging, and interested in residents. And a big plus is Physical Therapy right here, a PA we can regularly see, and consistent housekeeping and laundry services. Overall, I highly recommend Discovery Village Southlake.
