Talked about weeding and ripping out grass, but apparently that means just weed whacking everything down to the ground, including my rosemary bush, poppies, strawberries and crocosmia that had no weeds or grass around them requiring clearing.
Above ground irrigation was ripped out in ways that actually broke the connector from the hose to the stake, requiring new stakes to be purchased. Little solar walkway lights were raked away with leaves, breaking them, instead of moving them prior to raking and replacing. I was told the irrigation and lights were too buried to notice and too entangled to clear in any other way, but that was only the case in one 3x5 area. The other area was nothing but poppies, which didn’t require touching at all and another area where I watched a worker take a light tossing it across the garden had about 1” of leaves, definitely NOT entangled or covered.
Branches of my cherry bush and Japanese maple were snapped.
This was an absolutely careless job and the owner has offered to repair the irrigation, but I’m really not interested in having them back on my property. He has refused any monetary refund.
If I wanted weeds whacked to the ground, I could have easily done the work myself and not removed desirable plants in the meanwhile. We specifically discussed what I wanted and not only was that disregarded, but the work was done so carelessly, one wonders whether the crew knows the difference between a plant and a weed and my property was left unnecessarily damaged.
I’m very disappointed.
