Looking for a companion kitten for a kitten that found us and we rescued. When I called they were rude and told me to submit an application. When I did, my application was returned to me with nothing else. I responded asking if there was an issue with my application. I called to follow up and left a voicemail. I get a return email saying my application was denied and for me to "Go to my local shelter and save a life." Hmmm, isn't that what I'm doing? Having had cats for 15 years previously, plus I know I'm a good pet caregiver. Don't mind the rejection but thier professionalism is off-putting and I'll be sure to "save a life" from anywhere else but this organization. -26 July 2021

My boyfriend and I wanted to adopt a pair of kittens for the first time and fell in love with a set of siblings. The application was approved and we even had placed a deposit for this adoption. We were forced to visit the PetCo location four various times, only to be told each time that we either couldn’t bring the cats home yet or the foster mom forgot to show up. The final straw, however, was the lack of communication between the adoption organization and us. We were promised to be given the cats on the fourth visit, only to be met with the foster mom telling us we cannot adopt these cats anymore because the adoption papers were not signed by “the head of the household,” which is my boyfriend’s mother. We were never told this information and were under the impression that everything was fine as our application was already APPROVED. Our time was completely wasted by this organization who did not seem to care about a client who was ready and willing to give these kittens a wonderful life. We were told to just go to WAGS instead. How unprofessional.

I met kittens before a trip and they were nice enough to let me get them when I returned. During my trip I found out my girl kitten was a boy so I was getting just one but I paid for two. They advertise a two kitten discount so I got a second in a different location once I got back. N it took quite awhile to go where she was. N I didn't get to meet her as in play or such. I took her home just before being told she bites. N when I got the second kitten far away I wasn't allowed to take the kitten for hours with foster back n forth text to someone n I owed $100 according to them for three kittens but when I went to get those two they wanted my two kitten discount paid back to them or I couldn't take the one kitten. The one misses her sibling I has to leave behind.

We made the right decision coming to this adoption hub, located inside a Petco in Huntington Beach. We originally went in looking at a different cat, but after spending some time talking with one of the volunteers and interacting with him we realized he wasn't what we wanted. Instead, we chose the cat in this picture, and we couldn't be happier. The staff is so friendly and kind, even coming to our house to give our kitty a flea treatment for us, as she was so terrified to be taken to the vet. I corresponded with the staff on several occasions, since this was my first feline. They were patient and thoughtful. Second Chance also encourages never turning your cat away. If for some reason you can't keep it, they will always take them back without judgment. That made me feel confident the facility is truly vested in the cat's well-being, although I could never relinquish my kitty now! I would highly recommend adopting from them.
