Everything nice. Except limited help for an international student trying to set up utility. Mostly LAPDW's fault. Wish I could be connected with other international tenants who went through the same process. Been 2 weeks without electricity and gas. Feel like prehistoric time. Landlords tried to help but not much experience. Hope to be connected with International student tenants who did this in the past. Anxious to live in a house with no electricity. Tripped over something yesterday and injured knees.

I had a great experience here! I lived in a studio unit and never had issues. Management was quick to respond to my requests and were always very reasonable. Upon checking out I made sure to deep clean the apartment and we had no issues getting out deposit back. I communicated well with the on-site manager and they were always very nice. After looking at other units in the same area, I didnt find a better deal. A gated community, A/C units, and close to USC for this price was great !

At beginning, I really like this apartment because it close to school and managers are nice. But just after several months, everything changed. I am pretty sad about it, so I need to speak up. Mangers just live upstairs. During the one and half years, if my friends or my roommates friends visited us, they always asked us : who is coming or we charge $100 more for one more person. They are just our friends to visit us, even we just had dinner. We always feel be monitored by them. The parking lot is pretty dirty. They also charge $100 for each car. Most of apartments at DTLA offer free parking, so if you have a car youd better check other apartments. They charged us $325 for the cleaning fee when we move out. They always try to charge more money. I always feel disrespected by them. For example, at the beginning of COVID, we wear masks, they asked us: Are you guys sick? Also, if you want to negotiate something with them, remember to write down and sign it. Or they wont admit what they have said. This apartment is just next to the freeway, its kind of noisy and always lots of dust.

I lived in a few different apartments during my time at USC but I definitely had the best experience at Garrett Gardens! I actually ended up staying after graduating since I was working in downtown LA which is just 2.5 miles away. The other tenants are quiet and it's in a very safe area (located behind Tuscany). I also love that there are food options that I can walk across the street to when I'm too lazy to cook! I lived there for 9 years and Gil and Maria were amazing landlords! They were very responsive and accommodating. If we ever had any service requests they were quickly resolved and it was very nice to know that they lived on site and were easy to reach. For anyone looking for a place to live near the USC area I highly recommend this place!
