Knowledge of size of truck totally inadequate, got 26' when 20 would have been more than adequate.

I went with my 69 year old neighbor to rent a truck from the Leesburg, FL location a few days ago. They didn't have the 20 foot truck that he reserved, so they gave him a 26 footer, which for an elderly gentleman who isn't used to driving large trucks was very difficult to manage. He was told by the representative in Leesburg not to trust the gas gauge when refilling prior to return and to instead look inside the tank. When told by the Budget rep where to fill the gas tank to, my neighbor asked if he meant the flapper that he was able to see in the gas tank, and Budget confirmed this. When returning the truck in Ft. Myers yesterday, which we refueled just prior to our arrival at the Budget location, my neighbor was told that he didn't fill the gas tank all of the way. After explaining to the Ft. Myers rep what my neighbor confirmed with the Leesburg rep regarding the fill point, the Ft. Myers rep kept arguing the same point and clearly was not listening to his customer. We had to have Budget call the other location twice before we could get them to put the Leesburg rep that my neighbor worked with on the phone, and he kept arguing the same point that the Ft. Myers rep was arguing, which was that the fuel gauge showed as full when he left Leesburg. I guess that the Leesburg rep conveniently forgot that he told my neighbor not to trust the fuel gauge. By this point my neighbor already had high anxiety from having to maneuver such a large vehicle for a couple of days, so when he was told that he either had to go and fill it up or pay a hefty refueling fee plus 10.99 per gallon to get the tank to the level they required (the inside lip of the tank as he was finally told upon return), he refused and also refused to pay the penalty and exorbitant per gallon charge because he wasn't comfortable with again having to get behind the wheel of the large vehicle. I asked for the Ft. Myers rep to give special consideration to a senior citizen based on the circumstances around the requested smaller truck not being available and his obvious anxiety around the prospect of driving the truck again, and his response was to tell us that his grandfather is 70 years old and has a commercial license because he drives them so frequently. I think that it's safe to say that he missed my point. So in summary, the Leesburg location has problems with communicating effectively and filling customer orders to their satisfaction, and the Ft. Myers location gives horrendous customer service to senior citizens. 1 start for both of you... and Ft. Myers rep... you should be ashamed of yourself.
