My second time visiting and it just gets better! If you love good architecture you definitely need to go at least once, but what I really enjoyed on our second trip was how many businesses are within walking distance. You can pretty much come to town, enjoy five or six nice restaurants and a dozen or so breweries and bars without getting in the car the whole weekend. You're just a few blocks from an art museum and an architectural interpretive center, and a hockey arena that again you can probably just walk to. It's really fascinating that the city was able to pull off not only a stunning hotel renovation but have so many local supportive businesses rejuvenate a downtown in a way that many larger cities would be envious.

While we enjoyed our stay, there were a few issues that need to be addressed, if possible. Our room was an accessible room on the 3rd floor. This, in and of itself, made me wonder, if there was a fire in the hotel, how would someone who is in a wheelchair evacuate safely as one is not suppose to use the elevator. I have a hard enough time with stairs, so a wheelchair confined person it would be next to impossible. The only thing that made it ADA compliant was the roll-in shower. Not every one who has a handicap is in a wheelchair. Due to balance issues I require a seated area in the shower. There was none. While the bathroom floor was heated (very nice) and level, the bedroom floor was slanted as it neared the walls and uneven in places. Again, due to balance issues it was uncomfortable to navigate. Also, for the hearing impaired (I have single-sided deafness), there is no way to hear/see a fire alarm. On the other hand, we loved the room, even with its faults (did not like the view though as all we could see was the roof of a building). The bed was very comfortable. The decor was perfect for a FLW room. The hotel is beautiful sample of a FLW property. Would have been nice to be able to enjoy a breakfast in the restaurant instead of having to find some place to eat. Loved the chat that I had with the gift shop woman, and encouraged her to go visit the FLW properties in the Buffalo, NY area!
