I have had had one of their rooftop tents for 6 months and while cranking it down, the side support just broke off. I reached out via an email email contact from their website over a week ago and have not had any response. I followed up with calling a couple days later and left a voicemail, and I have never received a call back. I have tried calling and no one is answering. These tents are over 2k & it's awful that it hasn't held up longer than 6 months. It broke while I was in a remote area by myself and left me trying to figure out how to stabilize so it would be safe to get on the road. This is such a disappointment that they have not responded, as I did a lot of research beforehand on companies. Roofnest might be a little bit more money but worth it if they support their product and they have great customer support. I will try the BBB next but it looks like I'm out a lot of money.

My Hard Shell Tent arrived well packaged in a tri-walled corrugated container that held up very well. Set up was easy with the help of a few tall friends.  Do yourself a favor and buy a good quality 13 mm speed wrench and/or a deep socket 13 mm to the facilitate installation on your racks.  Take the wrench that comes with the brackets and either throw it away or give it to somebody you don't like! I have mine mounted on a series 5 Toyota 4Runner (4WD) on the factory rails with Yakama low profile racks. I hardly notice it there and on my first 1500 mile trip I only saw about a 3/4 MPG loss.I found the mattress a bit 'hard' but after the first night I was ok with it.  I may look for some kind of cushioning.  Jury is still out.The buying experience was top-notch. I believe Mike is the owner and he talked to me at length about the tent and patiently answered my questions.  Liz handled the shipping and couldn't have been nicer nor more personable.  Overall a great customer service experience.I generally camp off road, outside of campgrounds and seldom stay longer than one night in any one place.  I enjoy night sky photography and this tent fits my needs perfectly, fast setup and take down and no sleeping on the ground.

Great quality and a great way to enjoy a chill way of life. If I don't want my hammock this is n awesome way to have shelter on the fly. Those that don't know how to easily get it on and off their vehicle need a lesson in common sense and probably shouldn't be sleeping on their vehicle...maybe under is a better option. Enjoy the great outdoors!!

After shopping around various web stores as well as craigslist, Bigfoot Tents' hard shell roof top tent looked like the best available roof top tent. When the tent arrived, it was nicely packaged in heavy duty cardboard box with all the required hardware inside. Installation instructions were minimal but easy to figure out. The mounting brackets were a little too big for my Yakima cross bars so my brother fabricated a plastic adapter that would ensure a snug fit between the rectangular bracket and circular cross bar. Once mounted onto the roof of my SUV, it was secure and didn't make too much noise while driving. After a weekend trip to Yosemite, I can confidently say that sleeping in it was a dream. With only the mesh windows zipped, we stayed warm but never stuffy. The mattress is very comfortable despite it's lack of thickness. Setting up and putting away the tent was quick and easy, although a little bit of tucking away the walls is needed when collapsing the tent. I was able to fit an unrolled sleeping bag, pillows, and the ladder inside the tent while collapsed. This is quite possibly the best way to go car camping. However there are certainly things that I would wish the Bigfoot Tents had incorporated into their design. Having tried out a different but similar hard shell roof top tent in the past, I was a bit disappointed that interior storage was limited to a pocket on either side of the mattress. A mesh cargo net that spans across the front half of the tent would've been great. The LED lamp that was provided was very cheap; the batteries kept falling out and it was not physically mounted on the ceiling but rather hung from a hook. My black diamond lantern does a better job. Lastly, the ladder - although secure - was not to my liking. Being a folding ladder, it is limited to a single height setting and I can tell that SUV's with a suspension lift may be too tall for the ladder. The top of the ladder is also a rectangular and sharp so it scratched me when pivoting myself in and out of the tent. I'd like to see the folding ladder replaced with a telescopic ladder that has a smooth top. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. I look forward to many more adventures to come with my roof top tent.
