Desert Sands Motel

It's too bad they tore this landmark down in late 2016, being featured on the movie "No Country for Old Men," and all, but I can understand the city's motive. It was closed with a chain link fence around it, but homeless and other vandals were breaking into the motel and building fires to keep warm at night. So; one too many fires that had happened at the place that the fire department had to put out, had the owners in a bind and buckling to the city's insistence that the place be demolished. The only thing left is the pavement and the sign in front.

We stopped in for a room. We asked for a double. When we got to the room it was a single bed and I had stopped shareing with my mother over twenty years ago. When we got the right room the outlets look like they had some type of electrical fire. The only lights are in the bathroom and closet. (I had been meaning to buy some lanturns so it work out but still) There are no smoked detecters anywhere in the room. So you would be better off going elsewhere. We came because when calling around the manager said he needed the business - GUESS WHY?

I do not recommend this place for a handicapped or disabled person.SOMEONE JUST GOT KILLED AT THIS MOTEL.
