NYSC closed its Clifton NJ facility without warning. They never credited me for part of March or even April when they again collected full membership dues. There is nobody to talk to and calling another club the phone just rings . They block deletion of the credit card in the profile so you cannot prevent them from illegally charging membership to a Club that no longer exists. I will have to dispute charges as they occur on my Visa. Think long and hard before you join NYSC. Based on their behavior and how they have walked away from all promises made to members via e-mail on April 8, 2020 I am done with this unresponsive organization.

Update- If you cancelled your membership in April or canceled under an approved reason they will attempt to charge you twice your former monthly dues. These are fraudulent charges and will be reported to the Attorney General.

The gym used to be a place that was a sanctuary, one where I could escape and get in a good workout. I left my job last November pre-COVID due to anxiety and depression, and I worked out to try to get better. When the gym shut down (unfortunately) in March, New York Sports Club did not act in the interest of its members. I was then paying for two memberships, and in March, April, and September they kept charging me for a gym that was NOT EVEN OPEN, and for NO SERVICES and also charged my credit card WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION. To treat its members in this manner is not only completely unethical, but counter to the purpose of a gym, the purpose of the services a gym should provide to its members. NYSC has not only refused to refund the March + April membership charges for NO SERVICES RENDERED, they have also now charged me fees for membership cancellation. When did doing the right thing cease to exist for NYSC? When did NYSC decide that their COMPANY interests were higher than the WELL BEING of their members? Members who ALSO were dealing with anxiety, depression, hard times, adjustments to COVID. Members many of whom also lost jobs due to the pandemic. How is it OKAY in NYSC's eyes to continue to charge fees for NO reason other than to prop themselves up in the face of bankruptcy? NYSC has closed all review possibilities through Instagram, facebook and other areas. They cannot close Google reviews, so their corporate sends members who complain a "here to help" e-mail that is ACTUALLY NOT HERE TO HELP. This treatment is even more infuriating when NYSC could just step up and do the right thing and refund its members for 1/2 of March + April membership fees, knowing that IF THEY DO SO, their members will likely return at a later date. I certainly would have considered it. Sometimes the circumstances when they are the hardest, the members need to just take a step back but it doesn't mean they will never rejoin. But due to the current actions and MISTREATMENT of its members, how can NYSC actually look themselves in the mirror and believe they are doing what they are supposedly setting out to do, to provide HEALTH SERVICES to members and to allow the community to grow their physical + mental well-beings. They are NOT doing this by continuing to hide behind their policies, their LACK OF HUMAN JUDGMENT and their inability to just do the right thing. DON'T JOIN THIS GYM. It's not COVID that crippled NYSC - it's their own MISTREATMENT of humans and of their very members that caused it.
