Makana brings Hawaiian food to NYC. My guilty pleasure is the spam musubi. Okay food until I visit Hawaii again.

I ordered a poke bowl for takeout. They really skimp on the toppings - I was basically paying for a bowl of 80% rice the topping themselves are okay but the ratio was really bad. Dont be misled by photos on the menu.

I hate to give bad reviews. But im actually Hawaiian and trying to find some good hawaiian food is so hard. Gave this place a go hoping for the best Unsure why the kalua pork is served with corn??? Ive never heard or seen it paired with that.. traditionally its cabbage. Really didnt like that combo. Additionally mac salad is a huge staple for hawaiians theirs barely has any flavor and its definitely not a traditional recipe. Lastly i had to get spam masubi- again crucial for a successful hawaiian place. has grill marks that make the spam just taste burnt. Disappointed to see a place pushing this out. And of course way over priced

Disappointed, first time i went when it first opened the pulled pork was amazing all on its own, a year or so later, it has zero flavor. Got the tots and its like they needed the sauces to make up for the lack of flavor.
