Another pair of almost unworn Prada boots? Half off? Mm. Not perfect. OK *this* is perfect. Still. It takes discipline. I end up buying for other people mostly. I can't not buy a pair of perfect boots that are two sizes too big for me. A loved one must know the experience of these boots. Sometimes this vicarity works out other times, "nein". The people who arrange the displays create pause in me, where "'normal" stores do not catch me at all. Only a pretend blasé glance at what is news these days but for housing works I reserve my non blasé naked apperception of things-in-the-world. I most often experience this store through the window display, after close; the track lighting radiates towards the focal point, here is the thing they deem special and indeed it does not fail. They are experts in time. I ask them if "this is still cool" or "is this considered a good label" for stuff in the men's section. Literally never heard of that watchmaker or any similar name. Silly sounding name. "Is this like, a good watch?" Furrowed brow. "It's an ____" Arms cross. Already losing interest. He runs things so he has no time for ignorants like me. It's a giant man's watch and I don't know how to read the multiple circles without obvious signifiers of "hands". They are still kind for all the common things they have to witness amongst all the beauty and people striving for a piece. Or some are collectors, or some like weird surprising things. Others are there for the labels. Lots of labels lots of tags. Samples. The kitchenware is glass ceramic wood all the good stuff. Currently they have a large stock of directors chairs. I would go except I wrote this review and missed the window. They will move to Dumbo in a bit over a week. An unfair allocation of style. The upper east side received some illumination via that store not of curios but true curiosity and a genuineness in their consumerist hunger, and funny moments over mutually admired objects. When I first moved up here I walked into the special fall party where they open later than seven. Heaven! Two pairs of Martin Margiela shoes and Hussein Chalayan loafers. In my size, unclaimed. I asked for a volunteer form. But the next time it was normal and not open late and just a little far in the middle of winter. I decided rather to support them by shopping. Now that they're moving i realise it is a privilege to have worked there.
