Studs to Rugs made the news: FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - The owner of Studs to Rugs in Fargo could possibly face criminal charges following an abrupt close. The North Dakota Attorney General's Office says they are investigating after multiple paid the company, but say they never got any work done. So far that total is nearly a quarter of a million dollars. The Attorney General's Office says so far they have had a couple people file complaints against studs to rugs, but are expecting to hear from more. They believe the owner took money from customers knowing he couldn't or wouldn't get the work done, which is illegal. We called the owner, Tim Rosene, but haven't heard back. The Attorney General's Office says it's very difficult to protect yourself when hiring a contractor, in fact it's becoming more difficult to trust them. In the case of Studs to Rugs in Fargo, the AG's Office says they were licensed and bonded, and didn't have any complaints filed against them. The CEO of the Home Builders Association of FM, Bryce Johnson says, "It's concerning for the industry to have something like this happen, and disappointing and very unfortunate." She says it’s important that people do their homework before hiring someone. "There is really no magic pill, it's being smart, and taking steps, and doing research." STEELE, ND (KFGO) - A former Fargo contractor who was sued by the attorney general's office for not completing projects after accepting advance payments from customers is back in business. Tim Rosene is the Director of Sales and Project Management for Legendary Renovations in Steele. Rosene's cousin holds the contractor's license for Legendary Renovations according to the secretary of state's office. The business provides cabinetry, flooring and windows for home remodeling. A listing on Home Advisor says its been family owned and operated since 2005. The state sued Rosene last March on behalf of 9 former customers of Studs to Rugs who were left with unfinished projects. The lawsuit alleges more than 40 consumer protection law violations with total damages of about $300,000. When reached by KFGO News, Rosene would only say that he's trying to get his life rebuilt. Asst. Attorney General Parrell Grossman says since Rosene is only an employee of the company, He's not breaking any laws. As for the status of the complaints against Rosene, Grossman says the state is moving forward.

This is why it's a good idea to read review's. This company obviously let everyone down.

I'm not sure where all of their reviews went, but there used to be reviews on google for Studs to Rugs. Not all of them were very friendly, and I wish we had listened. They charged and arm and a leg for what we thought would be great service. It wasn't. They made promises they never followed through on, took much longer to complete our project than originally projected, and constantly left the front door of our house unlocked. We had a jar of change that was raided, even though it was in a section of the house no workers had any business being in. The contractors working in our house were friendly enough, but the people at Studs to Rugs that we dealt with were impossible. We just had a really awful experience, though we weren't disappointed with the way the remodel of our bathroom and closet turned out for the most part. I just feel like they cut a lot of corners and didn't do as good a job as they could have for what we paid them.
