Been going to Encinas for 20 years for mechanical work for the vehicles I have had over the years. The work they do isn't cheap but you get what you pay for there. Plus they don't try to find things to fix to pad the ticket. They do excellent work and will even make recommendations on whether the work is worth doing or not.

ETA, 8 years later: Even though we moved clear across town, this is still my go-to car repair shop. Their prices are absolutely fair, they are honest to a fault, and they've treated me with nothing but patience and respect. Ten stars. Wonderful local business. Original review: Fast, thorough, honest, and fair. I went to one of the big (pricy) chain mechanics, and they listed a whole host of issues that they said needed immediate repair. Quoted us a price to do it that was more than half the value of the (ten-year-old) car. Didn't quite feel right about it, so I looked for another place. This one was highly-rated and quoted more reasonable prices, so I brought it here instead. They diagnosed the main problem more accurately and told us none of the problems were serious or needed immediate attention, and we'd be better off just taking it back as is, keeping an eye on the oil level, and taking our time deciding whether to do the repairs or just trade it in for a new car. I really appreciate this kind of honesty. As a business model it seems to work, since people leave great reviews that hopefully bring more people in. I'd like to see more of this business model and am very grateful when I stumble across it.
