I got a mild dui and was represented by Mr. Bird. He won my case and reduced the charge. He is very knowledgeable and straight forward.

I was driving through Idaho when I got arrested after a traffic stop, and charged with possession of mushrooms. Ron Bird easily got me a lesser charge along with the most desirable outcome, six months unsupervised probation and chance to dismiss my case. Ron Bird is a great lawyer and I would highly recommend.

I was driving Idaho when I was pulled over after the cop followed me for 30 miles. Had some marijuana in the car. Well needless to say I had to find an attorney and found the gem of one. His first question was what do you want. My reply was no jail time. He did better than that. They offered a couple of plea deals that I was willing to take but he said he could do better and he did. Charges dismissed and Im still amazed. Couldnt have had a better outcome. Thanks and this guy is the one to call.

This is a difficult review to provide given that I have been loosely associated with Ron for over a decade. I have always considered him cordial, kind and professional. However, upon hiring him for a misdemeanor dui defense (.15), at his standard rate of $3,975.00 I was left disappointed to say the least. I chose to spend the exorbitant amount due to his extensive background and education. Ron has over 40 years experience in Idaho dui representation, was a dui prosecutor in Bannock County for years and has a Doctorate in the field of law. Ron does not provide a pre consultation nor will he read the police report until after you go to his bank and deposit the full fee in his account. After reading the police report he simply informs you that you really cannot plea bargain a dui in the State of Idaho and that Twin Falls County has a strict policy that they do not negotiate dui's and prosecutes them as written. He advises against a trial unless you want to pay an increased fee that generally escalates as high as $25,000.00 He then advised me that my best plan of action was to plead guilty and hope that the judge shows mercy based on the fact that you forfeited your right to a jury trial. Wrong. The judge was visibly aggressive and thew the book at me. Within a few days I was informed by all four other men that I met during this process that they had suffered the same exact sentence that I did for the equivalent dui charge and all four of them either utilized the free public defender or simply pleaded guilty with (NO) legal representation whatsoever. Ron was correct that Idaho does prosecute dui's with a no tolerance policy. My advice is that unless your dui involves a custody dispute, severe property damage, is an actual felony dui or has caused an accident resulting in a medical emergency and is a simple dui citation then simply plead guilty and save the $3,975.00 because you are going to need it for probation fees, transportation costs, increased insurance and alcohol evaluations/court ordered classes and fines. I also feel that is relevant to point out that the first 2 of the total 3 hearings were done via video conference and were concluded in less than 5 minutes each. The 3rd hearing was sentencing was done in person and required a total of less than 30 minutes at the Judicial Annex. Also, remember that at some point in Idaho dui attorneys discontinued charging for dui representation at an hourly rate and began utilizing a flat fee. So the old days of $200 to $400 an hour are long gone. They simply charge the $3,975.00 as a flat fee. You are now looking at much closer to $1,000.00 an hour or more. In retrospect had I done some due diligence and sought ought additional advice I would have simply saved the legal fees and pleaded guilty. Also, Ron's assistant (Jann) was thorough, professional and a good communicator. I hope this helps someone and remember that I am not a licensed attorney, am not authorized to give legal advice in any capacity and that I recommend that you consult multiple law firms for all legal advice before proceeding. DUE DILIGENCE! Good Day and Good Luck!
