Absolutely amazingly beautiful...was on three way home from our yearly family dip netting trip and wanted a nice and family friendly places to pole fish and staythree night.. This was the winner for us.. Got inn late at night but still was welcomed with open arms.also caught my first fish with a pole on land after living in alaska for 25 years..

This campground is just a few miles off the main road, but the diversion is well worth it. As with all Alaska state rec areas that I have visited, it was clean, well laid out, and beautifully situated. The ready access to the Kenai River was an unexpected bonus, and would make it ideal for those fishing their way through the state (although I would bet that it is probably a busy place when the salmon are really running). Note that there is no dump station or hookup for RVs.
