Holiday Inn Express & Suites Columbia City, an IHG Hotel

After reading several not so good reviews my husband and I were hesitant to stay. Knowing that all people see things differently, we decided to try it regardless. We were pleasantly surprised. The check-in staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our room was clean, nice bed, plenty of room. Bathroom was clean with good lighting. Pump dispensers all worked well. Water pressure and hot water were both fine. We did not eat breakfast or use the pool so no comments on those 2 areas. Would stay again and recommend it to others looking for a hotel in this area.

Rooms: I have been staying here for the past 6 months and every time the rooms are very clean and the people at the front desk are always extremely nice and accommodating! Definitely will continue using this holiday inn.

We reserved 6 rooms in total, 5 on the 3rd floor and 1 on the 2nd. Most of the rooms shower didn't drain, nor did the handle to turn on the shower even work. One of the rooms had exposed wires coming from the air conditioner. We were ALL OVERCHARGED for our rooms!!! We were told by a gentleman that works there to keep an eye on our charges because they were known for overcharging guests. The pool was down but we were told we could use the pool at a neighboring hotel however we couldn't use the hot tub at that hotel due to the roof caving in on it....really made me want to go swim there! The thermostat in 1 of the rooms had a low battery for 2 days before they replaced them! We were told that the ice makers were out of order, except every single one that we tried, worked! None of the front desk attendants were friendly! In fact one of them called a member of our group a "Michelin man" and also felt it appropriate to compare the size of the men's privates in our group!!! Completely unacceptable and inappropriate and they are thieves! DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!

Ok so honestly I was worried about the review stars until I read the comments that go along with them. First of all, I paid $80 for my room. IDK what people expect in the middle of nowhere for $80. The hotel is very clean. You can tell they are trying. The economy is hard and people aren't traveling as much. They're doing a great job here. The room was super clean, the bed was very comfortable, the TV is pretty big, laundry room was free and clean, no the pool wasn't open but ew, I don't do public pools anyway. My point is, don't let the people reviews worry you. They must have taken all pointers into consideration. Rooms: Clean, comfortable, large TV, hot shower with good pressure Safety: I'm a single female traveler and I couldn't have felt any safer.
