Bit of a mixed bag here. I arrived late following an Amtrak ride from New York and was initally allocated a room facing the freeway. Even in off peak hours, it is extremely noisy - and requested a move within 10 minutes of checking into the room. Robert on reception quickly obliged and put me across the corridor to the side facing the Whole Foods market. Happy Days. Rooms are very nice and modern and was very happy from there on out.......until..... My arrival back into the UK... I checked my statement and they had applied a 185 charge. It wasn't easy to get hold of the hotel via email, but eventually found an address via a rep on Twitter. I was told the charge was for 3 days parking. Very interesting, as I did not have a car....? I asked reception and the general manager ( Damien Delaunay) for an explanation as to what had happened. No response. Not great service really - were they expecting to just charge me and 'get away with it'? Not impressed. Location wise its about a 20 minute walk to down town, but access is a bit precarious to the freeway being in such close proximity. I should have chosen the Roxy near Chinatown as it had a better rate and better location, but thought the Marriot would shine - but it did not.
