        Friendly and charming, great location and all the history you might imagine. Muscles were excellent (but wouldn't get the fried clams again). Kid-friendliness: Kids menu. History lessons. Nice.

        Lovely restaurant. Excellent service from the waitress who suggested an excellent dish. We ordered clam chowder (excellent) and a plate of calamari and exquisite rice. It's not cheap but the food is worth it. We came on a Monday around 7 pm without a reservation and entered directly.

      The Union Oyster House, located on the Freedom Trail, near Faneuil Hall, enjoys the unique distinction of being America's oldest restaurant. This Boston fixture, housed in a building dating back to Pre-Revolutionary days, started serving food in 1826 and has continued ever since with the stalls and oyster bar, where Daniel Webster was a constant customer, in their original positions.
