Just shameful. Hes a big bully. And for him to choose a name such as Agape to name his shady business after is repulsive. Yuck.

I was suspicious that they were somehow not real because they were so nice on the phone and so responsive to questions. They got the work done in a very timely fashion according to the schedule they agreed to with excellent workmanship. If you ever want to see someone work really hard, watch someone break up a concrete floor with a jack hammer. I am appreciative of all their hard work.

Agape Building and Restoration will never get a positive recommendation from me.  When Joe and I met to discuss replacing a decorative retaining wall we had a connection I thought it was a great fit, even though there was only one review (and it was negative) on yelp I was willing to work with Joe.  After the first day of activity, I should have put a stop to the project.  When they came out with a backhoe to begin digging a trench for the new wall, they did not use a plum line or measure distance from the house or the road to construct an even straight wall, I should have known better. When I saw the backhoe entomb the existing slabs that were promised to be kept and moved for me, I should have known better.  When I was told not to worry, and he would use a rake to sift the dirt and get all those slabs I should have known better.    So many times, when I had a concern or thought something was not going right, I was told "just wait, let us finish the job".  I did, and now I must live with a slanted, over a foot thick (in some areas only) and textured with the board (they could not remove because they left it set on the cement too long) wall.   The contract stated 6 days, the project started 6-14-2022 and the last payment was 8-12-2022.  (I know it was hot and rainy, so I don't mind the timeline so much).  The contract says remove stone and it will be piled next to the tree, they would dispose of shrubs.  The stone slabs were only kept when I was moving them, or I was standing and pointing out to keep them.  The shrubs were put in plastic bags for the duration of the project, and I had to reminded them to remove the bags as stated.  It stated all areas where grass had been disturbed will be grated (never happened) and 50/50 soil mix will be applied (never happened) with grass seed and straw.  They did the grass and straw with no tilling, leaving the broken drainpipe tiles, rock, and other garbage.  After complaining and them returning to fix the grass seed, I was slightly happier, but I know the job was not right. They did not flatten, or grate, rake any of the project, and now I struggle with mowing the lawn over that whole area.  It is uneven, with stone and water flow that was never there before the project began.

Joe Bermudez replied to my complaint but did not address the issue, which was that he took (stole) a $3500 down payment from me, DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE AT ALL, installed a drain cover (that's one expensive drain cover!), and left. Later he demanded I pay the balance (an additional $1500) or he would put a lien on my house. He was paid. He was actually overpaid, because a drain cover and an hour of your time does not cost $3500 on any planet. Joe is a bully and a liar. If he had one ethical bone in his body, he would repay a significant portion of that down payment since:1) The issue was not resolved;2) The quoted work was not completed. Finally, per my request, and following a complaint to LARA, Joe's businesses are being investigated by the Michigan Attorney General's office. Joe would be wise to stop making false, public comments since it's all going to be evidence.EDIT TO ADD: Joe seems to have changed the wording of my BBB complaint he copy/pasted below. It did not say, "We paid $3500 and being paid the balance of $1500." But it did say that we paid $3500 down and the balance would be paid when the quoted work was completed. Again, unethical: he is editing my own words to try to make himself sound like a victim. This guy is a crook and will do anything to make a cheap buck - anything but provide trustworthy service, apparently.
