Stay away from these crooks. Within 1 minute of booking the money was taken. I had to cancel my reservation for November in April. I waited a couple week and nothing. I inquire about a refund and they said it could take up to 30 days. So 30 days after I canceled I inquire again. Then they said 30 working days. So I wait 37 working days then the mysterious stranger on the other end of the email says it's been over 30 days so they can't refund my card. That was in the middle of June. They ask for a zelle which I have and send the info. Still waiting 2 weeks later. It's now July. Don't bother trying to call anyone. None of the numbers work. Just avoid this crapshack of scam artists.

Rooms: Not to big and not to small. We were out all the time and just slept and kept going. Nearby activities: Macy's across the street. Time square, Harold square, Bryant Park, Broadway. Safety: Felt relatively safe. Hotel has security Walkability: 0.2-0.4 miles to many sites.

My partner and I loved our time at The Herald. The service was excellent, from check in onwards we were treated with respect by the hotel staff. They offered us help with getting around NYC, including best subway lines to reach all the main attractions around the city. The room was very comfortable, with great daylight and enough room to spread out in and relax after a busy day of sightseeing. The bed and pillows were comfortable too. Only criticism we had was a lack of kettle and microwave (the booking said the room came with a microwave) however these are very small issues on what was an overall great stay and a comfortable hotel. The location is amazing! My partner and I enjoy a good walk, so often we would walk to locations and attractions (usually no more than 30 to 40 mins to a lot of locations). If a location was too far away, we'd just hop on the subway located directly beneath the hotel. The Monarch Rooftop staff were very friendly as well (Monarch is a separate business however treated us well and helped us get into the bar as hotel guests). And one last thing - Herald were more than happy to help us get to Newark Airport when we checked out, which was a huge help considering the difficulty getting a taxi / Uber sometimes. If my partner and I were to come back to NYC, we'd happily consider The Herald powered by LuxUrban.
