I'm SO lucky my dad found this shop while I was growing up here. These guys are the most genuine, honest, and helpful mechanics with great advice and never push you to do more than what's needed. I trust them for safety and reliance with my vehicle! I don't go anywhere else in Austin.

Previous to coming to Lucas Auto, my experience with getting vehicles inspected at full service auto shops is that they use it as an opportunity to get you in the door to upsell you on unnecessary services, and at the worst, hold your inspection report hostage unless you buy dubious pass/fail items from them, like new wipers, filters, headlight assemblies, etc. The day that I brought my car in was during the aftermath of a calamitous winter storm that still had much of the city closed down, so all of the inspection-only shops that I had previously relied upon were closed, so I reluctantly pulled into Lucas because it had good reviews and wasn't a chain. I was pleased to find that their inspection service was only $18.50, and the wait was less than 15 minutes. So I dropped off my car, grabbed a plate of nachos next door, and came back and braced myself for the worst. to my surprise, my vehicle had passed the inspection without any BS. In sum -- this place had friendly, quick, and honest service, a quick turnaround time, and competitive pricing. It made a good impression on me, and I will likely go back to get more serious work done.
