Location!!! How would you like to walk in a lake!!! Soap is a very shallow lake where one can walk a great distance into the lake. It is beautiful and is said to have medicinal properties such that it can help relieve pain. The resort has a private access to the lake. They have hot tubs and a great sauna to relax. They have inflatable bouncy houses and indoor game room for children. The cabins are beautifully built with wood logs. Scenic location with a ton of photo opportunities.

There are several different ways to book a room at this Resort, and it can be a bit confusing what exactly kind of room you're reserving. Which is the only reason at all I'm marking this place down to a 4-star on Rooms. You can either book a Cabin (in what they call the Notaro Lodge). These are mostly independent structures, some duplex style, directly on the main grounds of the resort, mere feet from all the amenities - the lake, jacuzzi hot tubs, saunas, etc. These are luxurious. Fully what you'd expect from a Beach Spa and Resort. Or, you can, for a slightly lower price, book a room in the Inn (which is what will happen if you book through a discount site like Expedia, Canoe, or similar). These are fine, for what they are. Clean facilities. Comfy beds. Nice view. But definitely a step down from the Cabins. At any other chain hotel they would be considered perfectly adequate, and even charming. So take your pick. Beach Spa on a budget, or Luxury Resort. There's no real difference in access to the amenities. You get the full experience either way. And in my opinion, since you won't be spending much time in the room anyway, the inn is well worth the lowered price. One further note, a day at the Resort gets you continental breakfast at the nearby Restaurant, which tends to get picked over a bit if you're a late sleeper like I am. So get up early and snag some orange juice and a muffin to start your day. And make sure to book a table at the Cocina de la Sophia next door, as soon as they open at noon. You won't get in if you wait and try to walk in later. And you'll want to try their Brazilian fusion food. Trust me. Delicious!

My husband and I stayed here and it was very relaxing! We asked ahead if they were able to provide a pack and play for our three month old, and it was there in our room on arrival. The new workout room was clean and had gym quality equipment which we were thankful for. It was definitely a family atmosphere with a lot of kids running around (often unattended), but that didn't hurt our experience. We stayed over the fourth of July weekend and enjoyed live music and fireworks from the comfort of our balcony with a lake view (cabin 47). The room was a little buggy (tiny harmless spiders and flys) but that is understandable considering it is a cabin in the middle of a desert oasis. Every creature wants to set up shop there! Looking forward to returning sometime in the future.
