Kate is amazing! She is extremely knowledgeable and knew exactly what I was going for in my family room. She has great ideas on how to add more seating to a smallish room and what materials would work best with kids and cats in the house. A stressful and overwhelming project has become fun and exciting with her guidance. I’m so excited to see it all come together!

Katie at Sandalwood did amazing work in my living room and family room. Her eye for colors, art, furniture and carpeting made all the difference. Katie made my complicated project much simpler and her detailed knowledge of sustainable and non-toxic materials was unique.

This is our first experience working with an interior designer and we feel so fortunate to have found Kate and Sandalwood. We moved from a small apartment into a house and had no furniture! Kate helped us renovate our kitchen, dining area and powder room, and we are currently working on our living room, entry and stairwell. Kate always presents beautiful choices after soliciting our ideas about the use of the room and our own preferences for style. She brings a great eye and knows how to guide choices of finish/color/scale to relate to each other. She brought in highly skilled and artistic professionals to do tile work, carpentry and electrical work - all of whom took great pride in their work. Kate works as a project manager and makes sure every detail is taken care of. We have had fun with the process (even with COVID-related months-long delays) and are delighted with the finished rooms. Looking forward to working with Kate for more projects!

I worked with Kate at Sandalwood Design when I recently moved from Manhattan to Darien, CT. I didn’t think that I needed the help of an interior designer but I am so glad that I reached out. Kate knew exactly what size furniture pieces fit where and helped me to lay out my living room to improve the flow and overall feel of the room. She picked up on things I wouldn’t have thought of on my own (add more curtain panels, table behind the couch!) and helped me really turn this new house into a home. Working with her was a wonderful experience. She worked within my budget and gave me a variety of choices with different price points. Also, she took into consideration that anything we chose had to be child-friendly (durable and safe). She’s a mother too and gets what it’s like to balance having a nice home with the reality of children and pets. I wasn’t sure what working with a designer would be like but this couldn’t have gone more smoothly. Highly recommended!
