Rodeway Inn Near Mt. Rushmore Memorial

If you can sleep in a tent on a rock floor with it raining, hot and humid it would be better than this hotel. If you have to drive or pay 3 times the rate to get anywhere else please do. Clean towels, clean bedding, and AC worked. This is all I can say was good. When we checked in guy that came in was like let's do this and just go away. Table was dirty, dirty towel hanging on back of bathroom door and we micro ban sprayed everything. Got to the free breakfast at eight in the morning and nothing there. Everything empty and gone with no one at desk to ask for more.

It was very dirty. Mold on the bathroom ceiling. Bed sheets and comforter was not clean or had not been changed after the quests before. Carpet was very very dirty and stinky. The rooms were not cleaned every day.

I was not expecting much, but got less then what i expected! After a 14 hour drive hoping to sit in a hot tub or pool MOLD in both so went to take a shower NO hot water. first off, this place stunk so bad when i walked in (like mildew, mold, severe body odor, and like someone recently threw up). it was so bad my eyes started to water and i felt like i didn't want to breathe. i tried to ignore it hoping my room wouldn't smell... i didnt want to be rude, and felt uncomfortable saying this. after i signed in and was preparing to go to the room (and hopefully not endure the torturous smell) the manager made insulting comments and rude hand gestures about how id gained so much weight compared to my ID he didn't think it was me. ...just what every woman who's already sad and Insecure about her recent weight gain due to health problems wants to hear from a complete and total stranger. yes, strange, rude, man... please body shame me after ive forked over $300.00. i was super upset and just in shock that someone would think this was appropriate conversation to have with a stranger. these comments put a huge damper on my vacation. i know its silly that it bothered me to that point, but it did. after that i immediately canceled and never entered my room. he knew i wasnt staying immediately. he had plenty of rooms available (probably because it stinks so incredibly bad, and he's extremely inappropriate) so it wasn't like i canceled and it cost him money. booking the room and canceling all happened within 15 minutes. i ended up staying across the street, so i spent another $300.00 just to avoid any more interactions with this person. ive been fighting with him and Expedia for months over this charge. ive given him since july 2021 to make things right, before this review happened... but he sees nothing wrong with his harassing and insulting behavior, and "doesn't care because, visitors generally wont return" ...so here we are. if you'd would like to breathe, and do so without being insulted and ridiculed, i suggest you stay across the street as well.
