I'm forever grateful to have found Dr. Arrieta! Before seeing him, I was trapped in a cycle of debilitating symptoms that had taken over my life. I was overcome by episodes of seemingly bizarre neuro symptoms, including brain fog, constant migraines, speech difficulties, movement issues, and never-ending pain in my neck, back, and shoulders due to muscle tension. I felt like a prisoner in my own body, losing my independence and freedom to live a normal life. But then I met Dr. Arrieta, and everything changed. I got disabled working as a nurse during the pandemic. Chronic fatigue, chronic shortness of breath, brain fog, neuropathy in my feet, tinnitus, vision disturbances, balance instability, and multiple bedbound days every week. Before I came here, two cardiologists said my problem was period cramps in your chest, my neurologist said theres nothing I can do, and other doctors just didnt believe me. Then. Dr. Arrieta immediately believed me, diagnosed me, and is treating me. He is a genius - and one of the kindest people I have ever met. Ive only been going for three months, but weve already fixed so many things - I almost never have bedbound days anymore and my quality of life is so much better - and treatment is ongoing! You want someone who will care about you, listen to you, and believe you? Dr. Arrieta. You want someone who will actually find out whats wrong with you? Dr. Arrieta. You want to get better? Dr. Arrieta. He is giving me back my quality of life when everyone else said there was nothing they could do.

I came to see Dr. Arrieta in late August of 2021 while attending grad school for ataxia of unknown cause. In February 2022 I learned I had a type of neurodegenerative ataxia. Even before we knew the "why" Dr. Arrieta was the first doctor to give practical help in standing and walking and generally coordinating myself. He has given me tools and programs to work at home which have sustained me through graduate school. My neurologist is very pleased with the work Dr. Arrieta has given me and we believe it is postponing some of the degeneration as I am standing proof. Benjamin Bisgrove, age 25

Dr. Arrieta literally changed my and my families lives!! Dr. Arrieta is extremely thorough and so knowledgeable in all, I mean seriously every aspect of the brain. I have always struggled with certain symptoms/problems. Ive been through a lot! I have seen beyond so many different specialists, and have had so many different tests, MRI,s EEGs, sleep studies, among others. My vertigo would last for what seemed like days. My double vision was so terrible, and the ringing in my ears was sometimes unbearable, plus more. . I couldnt even walk in a complete straight line. Especially if I looked at any pattern or anything else, I would get motion sickness. Reading, watching TV, trying to use my phone, computer, anything and everything that you take for granted on a daily basis was completely taken away for me it was completely out of the question. My hands and feet were constantly cold, and my hands legs and feet would turn purple and red which I know a lot of people call Reynards. My heart rate would literally feel like it was pounding out of my chest. It would go from normal to tachycardia really fast. Then around 6 years ago I started having seizures. At first they werent bad or often, I thought I was just passing out from fatigue. Eventually, they progressed into severe seizures, and my chest hurt so bad I thought my heart was going to explode. At this point we traveled to Shands hospital at the University of Florida, and then to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. They both gave me the same diagnosis of Psychogenic non-epileptic seizures. Finally, we traveled to UAB in Birmingham where I saw a number of specialists and was given the diagnosis of Functional Neurological Disorder or (FND), and treatment was essentially talk therapy I remember the days that I would just lay on my couch or in my bed just crying and crying because every doctor I saw, the test results came back that there wasnt anything wrong and there was nothing that they could do. And I knew that I wasnt going crazy, but at times I felt like I was going crazy due to the fact that the doctors kept telling me there is nothing wrong due to the test results.. My anxiety was unbearable! I started distancing/withdrawing-myself from my family members and friends, because they just didnt understand Finally my prayers were answered. Dr. Arrieta explained in great detail after my exam about what was causing all of my problems/symptoms which turned out to be multiple dysfunctions in my brain and nervous system, including my vertigo and Dysautonomia. Then during the rehabilitation process he would explain to me in detail the reasoning for the different therapies we did and in what way they were helping me. Im not a very open person when it comes to my medical, but I wanted to share my story to help others. Because there is hope! I am a true testament of the amazing work that Dr. Arrieta does, and what Functional Neurology can do. I cannot thank him enough for giving me back my life, and everything that he has done for my family and I. There are no words to express the gratitude we have towards him. I am fortunate enough to be able to share my story and help other people.
