Its great to have a dog park right in downtown! The Dogspot has separate areas for small and large dogs, as well as some benches and several areas with shade. Running water is available and theres even a separate outdoor dog wash area. The 50lbs+ section is quite large and is a great way to repurpose an unused area below and adjacent to the parkway and exits for I-565. The traffic noise is not especially bothersome and definitely doesnt seem to bother the dogs. It also allows for some bonus off-leash time in the rainy season, under the overpass areas.

Almost too big? I hate to say that, because I have been to plenty of dog parks that are way too small. But this has a good spot for teeny dogs, and plenty of shade for those hot Alabama summer days. It has water spigots also, so maybe it deserves four stars? Eh, it is just so big that the dogs that need to socialize don't have to, and that kinda nerfs the whole point, you know? Train tracks less than 20' from the fence is a little too urban for me. I'm glad downtown has this, but it needs a little something; maybe a little less.
