I had an abscess in my mouth and since the swelling was going down my neck North Alabama Oral Surgery told me to immediately go to the ER. They have an on call dentist. Mind you I'm almost at pain level 10. I usually don't say 10 because I'm not bleeding but it was close to that level. My blood pressure was elevated because of this. Dr. Calvert comes in and evaluates me says that all they can do is give me an antibiotic. Noticeably crying from being in pain he says you know percocet or Lortabs don't work on that, I'll give you ibuprofen. I explained I already take 800mgs 3 times a day. And that I took percocet over the weekend and it worked. So he gives me 2 7.5 lortabs and then waited. 30 mins and I start feeling better. But doesn't write a script for home. And tells me oh the antibiotic may not work for about 3 days. Wow, leave me in pain that long. And his nurse is like well that's how addiction starts. It starts when you take it for a while not just 2 to 3 days. You need to retire. If you can leave someone at a level 9.8 pain like this and think 2 or 3 days of medicine can cause me to get addicted. You're out if your mind. Wow I can't believe you left me like this. When you knew the medicine worked.
