Courtyard by Marriott Huntsville University Drive

This is probably one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. After driving for 2 hours from Birmingham my partner and I walked into this hotel that smelled purely like weed. When we got to the room it was even worse. There were 2 roaches in the air filter, the sheets had blood on them, the pool was green, and when we went to take a shower the whole tub was clogged and was leaking. We went to speak with Shamiya who was pleasantly understanding she switched our room and I was told my rate would change. The room that we were switched too the tub leaked and we had to step in a puddle of water. Not only was this a horrible experience for me but I looked at my bill and was falsely charged. I was told my stay would be 196 and was charged 470.

Very subpar property. In bad need of a refresh. Very understaffed. Bistro not open at night. Breakfast Bistro appeared to be (not well) staffed by front desk. Staff wasnt friendly or welcoming in general. Understand why after GM solicited my feedback from stay & then bizarrely disregarded. FIX THIS MARRIOTTthis property is an embarrassment to the brand.

If there was negative number for a rating, I'd give it a minus 5. I'm one night in and here for 2 more. Been a Marriot member for 15+ years and this is ranks as the worst Marriott property I've ever stayed. Room is not up to Marriott standards, busted cabinets, wrong size sheets on bed, generally old, failing card keys, etc. etc etc. Busted elevator. Elevator is in bad shape with a busted console (hello Fire Department!!). Waited 20 minutes for a cup of coffee & breakfast roll, under staffed....I can keep going. I wish I could move to a different hotel but all others are booked. Marriott, Fix this place!!!

Having stayed at several other Courtyards in the United States, I was surprised by the state of the hotel's upkeep. My room had several damages to the ceiling paint as seen in the photographs, the entrance door from the parking lot was slamming due to the lack of a fastening or damping mechanism, causing discomfort in the adjoining rooms. Regarding the service of the staff, there was no treatment that could be highlighted, there was a tired and disinterested treatment towards the client added to many absences at the front desk. I understand the design of the rooms is old, but it would be a great convenience to have nightstands that can contain CPAP equipment that is in common use these days. Conveniently located for early arrival to Redstone Arsenal.
