Nicholas, we are very sorry to hear this happened to you! This is very uncommon and in our experience is typically an inside job of a friend knowing what was being stored inside. Spoke to Nicholas, Said he gave a friend a key to his unit because the friend wanted to put stuff in it and the friend stated he gave the key to the manager but didnt know who it was. This was in 2021. Nicholas had not been at his unit since 2021 until about a month ago. He has filed a police report.The lock was not a disc lock but a padlock of which is not a lock we supply nor do we have keys of. We have top notch security with over 20+ cameras at the property, a gate access control system with a fully enclosed barbed wire fence around the property and an onsite security live in manager. In our defense, we have a strict company policy that states that, “our employees and onsite personnel can’t hold keys for customers”. If you recall who your friend gave the key to please call our district manager back. I hope you were able to get a hold of our regional manager! We have no notes in the system of this happening and for liability reasons, again, we don’t hold keys for tenants and this is why we SELL disc and cylinder locks at our locations that come packaged up by chateau products and don’t have any master keys and the customer is responsible for securing his or her unit as stated in the lease.
