We stayed here for a leisure trip to AK and although it was busy, the staff was wonderful and helped us with requested accommodations, not to mention local Fairbanks recommendations for eats. We enjoyed the rooms, the hospitality, and having the commissary right there was nice, too. Thank you for doing your utmost to support our military families, whether traveling for business or some much needed downtime. We will return if ever in Fairbanks again!

I only stayed a night. The room was clean and appeared to be very new. Breakfast was available and good enough. The only knock I had was trying to get into the parking lot.

Someone said "Alaska doesn't care you you are, its trying to kill you; Alaskans don't care who you are, they got your back - its the only way to survive". I have found this to be true. While staying over the winter it got down to -50 degrees, a temperature that kills your battery, even if its plugged in. When that happened, the desk offered me their jumper pack because... they have my back. When my daughter was visiting and had her 10th birthday, she felt very lonely. She was seperated from the grandparents, her friends and what is sometimes considered "survivable weather". But the hotel staff found out about her birthday and late at night decorated our door with streamers and balloons (my daughter's favourite things). You should have seen her eyes when she discovered it in the moring! Sometimes it feels like Alaska is trying to kill us, but when I come here it feels like someone has my back for the important parts of my life. And I am so grateful. Nearby activities: Alaska is "hard but not bad". If you want to see the northern lights, its here. If you want to ski, its just down the street. If you want to fish, its close by. When you are trying to orient yourself to a new duty station, the hotel is across the street from the welcome center, PX, commissary, library and bowling. Its a great place to land, feel safe, and start the next adventure.

We had a wonderful stay at the Holiday Inn. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The hotel is very clean and the amenities are well taken care of. The cleaning staff does a great job. The front desk staff are knowledgeable and willing to help in any way they can. Breakfast and Restaurant The breakfasts are great. They offer nice, well rounded options. There are warm options and cold options. We love the sausage and biscuits as well as the omelets. There are eggs, fresh bread, yogurt, cereal, fruit and muffins as well. This is nice because many hotels do not offer breakfast at all. The hotel does not have a restaurant, but the hotel also provides dinner once a week on Wednesday, which was a pleasant surprise. The dinner on Wednesday is great. The meals range from brisket stew to potatoes au gratin. They do sometimes run out of certain items for breakfast. This is due to the challenges with shipping stock to Alaska and out of the hotels' control. Cleanliness and Laundry We stayed in two different rooms during our stay. Both rooms were well equipped and clean. The sheets were fresh and the towels were clean. The floor looked great, I have no complaints. As an added bonus, we were given soap, shampoo, body wash and conditioner as well. They offered to clean our room once per week, however, I would rather clean my own room so I regularly declined. When they did clean our room, they did a fantastic job. I have no complaints. You can ask for the schedule at the front desk so you know when they are planning on coming in. You can also request a specific time that works for you if you do not want to wait for them to come by. They restock the rooms at least once per week. We ran out of a few things before our restock day and just ran down to ask the front desk for more. Every floor has a laundry facility, which is a very thoughtful amenity. The laundry room is kept clean and even has a utility sink for tough stains. Each laundry room has a set of 2 washers and dryers. Location and Property We enjoyed the view of the sunrise and sunset from our room. The inn is walking distance to the commissary and exchange, bowling alley, gym, library, MAC Bank and the welcome center. It is in a very convenient location if you do not have a car. There is also a Burger King within walking distance. Additionally, there is a play structure outside for the children which my children played on even in the snow. Office and Gym The hotel offers a convenient office and gym. The office in the Lobby is well taken care of. There are two computers with printers for public use. The gym has an elliptical, a treadmill and a bike. There is a television in the room, water and towels. There are also games at the front desk that you can check out to play. Service and Staff The staff is very responsive to any maintenance requests. We had a light go out in the room and it was taken care of that day. They are all incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and help us to have a nice stay. We are so grateful to the entire staff for all of the hard work that they do to make our stay so comfortable. Thank you for all you do! I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here again.

The parking lot can be tricky trying to maneuver in the correct way on the one-way street. We do hope the parking lot issue will not determine for you to come back and stay with us again if you come back to Fort Wainwright. Dear Erik Ramsey, We deeply value your feedback here at Holiday Inn Express, NORTHERN LIGHTS INN. We are very pleased to hear that your stay with us has been going so well, I know you are not due to check-out yet. We still greatly appreciate you filling out the survey and letting us know how your stay has been so far, Alaska is a place where it can take a toll on your body, we try here at the hotel to make everyone feel at home and be there for the best ways we can for our guests. The cold here in Alaska can be very brutal, especially when it gets down to -50 degrees. The cold can have a impact on your body, your vehicles and your home as well. We want to make our guests stay as smooth as possible, this includes having supplies for our guests to use such as battery packs, extension cords, flashlights and many more items. Talking with your family is always a pleasure, when we found out it was your daughters 10th birthday, we were beyond excited to be able to do something for her. We are beyond happy and it also warms our hearts that the door decorations made her day. That is our goal with working in hospitality is make someone's day a little bit better. We are beyond pleased that we can make your stay here better and take some of the stressful parts off of your plate. If there is anything else we can do for you during your stay with us, please do not hesitate to reach out to Ariel, myself or any of the front desk agents. We would be more than happy to do anything we can for you and your family. Please know that your feedback is extremely valuable to us. We use feedback, such as yours, to continuously make changes to our brand to improve the guest experience. We hope that you will give us the opportunity to serve you again in the future.Again, thank you for choosing Military, and if I can be of assistance to you, please contact me directly at 573-855-8830 or [email protected],Renee WadeOperations [email protected]

Dear Veronica Ramsey, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at Military NORTHERN LIGHTS INN.We are pleased to hear that your stay with us exceeded your expectations! I will be letting all staff know of your kind words, including the housekeeping staff doing an excellent job of cleaning your room, the maintenance staff fixing your light that went out during your stay, the front desk who went above and beyond to help you with anything you needed your time here, also the breakfast staff for the warm breakfast. We appreciate your understanding of some breakfast items being out of stock. As you said, due to us being in Alaska shipping times do sometimes take longer than expected. I am also pleased to hear you enjoyed our free social dinner! Our plan is for our guests to have nice, hot home cooked meal away from home! The location of our property does have a lot of plus sides when you don't have a vehicle up here you are able to go to the commissary, the bowling alley is right next door. All within a short walking distance. If you come back to the Fort Wainwright area, please do not hesitate to reach out and let us book another stay for you!
