The Gourmet Hot Dog Shack

This place was awesome !! The owner Jim is a very professional and customer service oriented guy!! He made us feel like we were long time regulars, and it was our first time in. We ended up getting free shakes and the hotdog's surpassed our expectations. If you're hungry, in Homer and want something better then a gas station hotdog? Check Jim out he knows how to treat his patrons!! Thanks Jim!!!

My hubby and I had just tied the knot on a nearby glacier in early September. Upon returning famished and cold, we quickly changed into something warmer and met our awesome photographer at The Gourmet Hot Dog Shack (a place we had been eyeing since arriving in Homer). On the way over, we realized we had forgotten to have our pilot sign as a witness on the marriage certificate. Luckily (and though not advertised on the menu), owner John graciously filled the role, and as an ordained minister no less! The food was delish, John ***and his famous buns*** were delightful and we love having this story as part of our amazing adventure!! We hope to visit again!!

These are some of the best hot dogs I've had. I had the very first ever Peanut Butter Bacon Hot Dog he's ever sold. I am very honored. The owner is also a dawg for real. One of the nicest guys. Go to the Gormet Hot Dog Shack if you would like the best hot dog you've had. Very much recommend. Plus free cookies because we're his "gourmet customers." LET'S GOOO

I dont write many reviews but after trying the hot dogs for myself & seeing the proprietor completely lose his cool online to those trying to give him constructive criticism, I feel compelled to say something. First off, the hot dogs may not be ballpark but there is nothing gourmet about them & with the vast majority of condiments being an additional charge, youre looking at the cost of a full course meal at a restaurant with much larger portions & better quality. Secondly, the proprietors level of unprofessionalism is out of this world. I have honestly never witnessed such atrocious behavior towards a customer base. He is an unhinged individual who was lashing out at people trying to help promote his business by sharing his menu on social media. Calling the locals mentally ill losers who need to get lives when all they were doing was responding to his unprovoked outbursts. He even challenged one to a physical fight. Judging by his replies here on Google, he will probably accuse me of never visiting his establishment or call me part of a hate group which is simply not the case. Just sharing my personal experience. I would not recommend this establishment nor will I ever go back. Judging by what I witnessed online, I would be concerned with the safety of customers. Say the wrong thing while there & who know what could happen. Be safe & go elsewhere. Edit: As expected, the proprietor states Ive never been to his establishment, that weve never met. Look at my profile picture & username Speaks volumes right there. 2nd edit: Looks like the owner wised up & deleted his responses to the negative reviews.

James is makes the best meatball sandwich ever. All I can say is try it. His hotdogs are the Best ones in town too! Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly and dog friendly.
