Tami Smith is a wonderful doctor, but the ladies at the front desk don't know how to communicate at all with patients and how to explain lab work, they don't even tell you that you have a co pay at the end of your visits, the only way you know that is when you get a bill in the mail. I will say again Tami Smith is so sweet and she is very caring.

We have been seeing Tami Smith for pediatric care since our baby was born. She is wonderful and knowledgable! We absoluetly love her! Our baby has always felt comfortable with her as well. She is very gentle with him. She takes the time to listen to and answer all of my first time parent questions. She is also always quick to get back to me with answers to my questions outside of visits. The whole atmosphere at Mat-Su Midwifery is very comfortable. Everyone we have interacted with has been exceptionally kind.

After my miscarriage, we have changed providers entirely. At our appointment the midwife could not find the heartbeats for our twins, but seemed less than concerned and gave us options to come back next week or we could be referred to an imaging office. After receiving care at Imaging Associates, our ultrasound technician sent documents confirming a demise of our twins and we did not hear a single thing from either of the midwives we had seen. Had it not been for the ultrasound tech who confirmed the status of our babies, we would not have known what to do for after care and the steps we needed to take in this situation. A truly horrible and heartbreaking experience. Lack of provider education, compassion and communication is what we encountered here. After switching to Alpenglow Womens Health we were shocked at the difference of care and information we have been given. I suggest establishing care at Alpenglow instead of the Midwifery.

Provided zero information or next steps for a later term miscarriage. After prodding them for a week we finally got referred to women's health in anchorage and they have been a breath of fresh air. You'd think there'd be a pamphlet, list of providers, or literally any useful information available upon receiving the news. Nope! Do yourself a favor, just go to anchorage. Edit: When we are calling back asking for information about options and receiving none, we aren't looking for space. When asked about options birth, d&c, etc we were strongly pushed towards birth and told that the only person in the state who does d&c's that they knew of retired (complete misinformation). Additionally, we did not receive a phone call back before the long weekend with at least a status update on information requested. Great way to leave a hurting family in the dark. They clearly dropped the ball and are willing to put the physical and emotional welfare of their patients at risk either because they didn't know an answer or are just pushing their providers opinion rather than referring out when asked about other options. Overall using the midwifery costed us an additional 10 days of an already two week missed miscarriage. Their doctor, insensitive at best and the best explanation she had was "a god thing or whatever" left us completely without answers. Literally five minutes at Alaska Women's Health gave us more answers then a week of trying to pry any useful information out of the midwifery. There are not words creative enough to express my displeasure with this place.
