        We chose to go with Geoff as the cost to hire licensed architect for our mother-in-law quarters seemed cost prohibitive. Geoff's bid was about half that of a proper architect. He has a great eye for creative design and we are very happy with the final design. There are caveats, however. For anything other than routine structures, you may need to have the plans reviewed and revised by an engineer, on your own time, effort, and additional cost. You will have to be patient; minor revisions and corrections could take weeks to get resolved. In our case, it took 8 months to get the plans completed. The blueprints had lots of errors and inconsistencies; be sure you have a keenly observant and patient builder. In the end, we probably didn't save any money by not using a proper architect. All this said, I reiterate, we still got a nice design.
