Black Bear Inn

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Black Bear Inn in and it exceeded all my expectations. Wendi and Bruce are the epitome of hospitality, making sure every guest feels like family. The breakfast they serve is nothing short of exquisite, with each dish prepared with love and attention to detail. The inn itself is impeccably clean, creating a comfortable and welcoming environment for guests to relax and unwind. I can't recommend the Black Bear Inn highly enough for anyone looking for a cozy and charming getaway in the beautiful Arnold area.

This is a really, really nice Inn. Stayed there once before with prior owners and it's as good or even better than ever. Beautiful common spaces, comfortable rooms, delicious breakfasts. And Wendy/Bruce made dinner reservations nearby so I could enjoy hiking all day. Very much recommend

My time at the Black Bear Inn was beyond blissful. Upon arrival I was warmly greeted by Wendy, who owns and operates the Inn with her husband. She kindly showed me to the room I reserved (Okanagan) and told me about all the wonderful amenities included with my stay. The room was immaculately clean and cozy. My girlfriend and I spent the majority of our time in the room relaxing in the Jacuzzi and resting on the extremely comfortable bed. The food prepared by the chef (Wendy's husband) was exquisite. The surrounding scenery is breathtaking. This was the best getaway ever and I plan on returning just as soon as possible.

This is the best small bed & breakfast in the world. Just 5 rooms all on one level. The owners greet you like family. A variety of wine and cheeses served every afternoon and a gourmet breakfast every morning. The great room is an awesome place to relax and the whole place is surrounded by pine trees yet still close to town. Very modern yet quaint. Every time we visit there is something new and updated. The latest for locals is wine Wednesdays featuring a local winery every other week. Great place for locals to meet and mingle. Rooms: Cozy, each with a gas fireplace, fridge, TV and 4 of 5 rooms a jacuzzi tub (the handicapped accessible room has a roll in shower) Nearby activities: 4 miles from Calaveras Big Trees State Park with its incredible Sequoias. Great places for hiking and skiing within 30 minutes. Food & drinks: If you want Chef Bruce to make you a gourmet dinner, you must ask well in advance.
