On this visit, we once again met Deb Hodkin and Tina. Deb is really great, and so is Tina. It's not hard to have a conversation with both of them. In fact all the staff are wonderful and knowledgeable. The museum was busy when we arrived and there were numerous foreign tourists. The Museum is located in a beautiful building called The Casa Del Desierto, which was once a Harvey House and train station. The museum has a great amount of historical displays and exhibits in several rooms. At the museum you can find a room where you watch a video. It was fascinating looking through the older photos and reading about the history of the area. The museum also has great Route 66 items in their gift shop, and yes, we did purchase some souvenirs. This museum is a must stop for all the visitors to the area. It's a great stop to learn about the history of Route 66 Barstow and other areas.
