I stayed her as a treat for myself when I reached my business goals. I had such a great adventure. It was so fun. My horses name was Mulan which was perfect for methe Chinese warrior that saves China! You had the opportunity to choose which kind of ride you would go on. Did you want to do cattle herding, regular trail ride, ride up to the lake etc. And if you didnt know how to ride they gave instructions. The setting and the rides were so picturesque. I went in the fall, I think one of their last for the season before shutting down for the winter. The food was really good. The cabins were quaint. The horses were outstanding. And the evening entertainment was fun. I enjoyed going out early in the morning when they called the horses in. That was amazing to see. If youre looking for a fun equestrian adventure definitely check this place out!
Rooms: I stayed in one of the rooms that was rustic and comfortable
Food & drinks: The food was rustic homemade cooking

Went for the fall cattle week in late September. Not only is location of the ranch itself spectacular, but the staff are more than diligent in their quest to take care of guests safety and experience. Had a hoot of a time with the other guests, youll find some real nice people come to this ranch year after year. go here to unplug. The evening activities are optional but very fun. Horses are some of the sturdiest, gentle Ive seen and theyre all great with cattle, plus taken care of well. I suggest stopping by the travertine hot springs either in the early morning or after your stay.
Rooms: Incredibly comfy beds after a long day in the saddle. And WARM blankets. Has adjustable heating. Was always comfortable
Safety: The horses are safe for beginners, heck we had an 85 year riding with us and her horse was very capable and sound.

This was my 2nd year for the Cattle Work PKG.. Will keep this a tradition until I am unable to ride! The horses are very good horses. I loved having the same sweet horse as last year.. (Mahogany)..I bonded with her before and after the rides..after one day she would rest her nose on my chest..She lifted her feet for cleaning. That's just something I do as a habit after riding..
It is very important (for me) to bond with your horse that will be taking direction from you and work so hard for you! The wrangler's were extremely helpful and safety is their priority.. I had a fabulous time. Sorting calves for vaccination & the timed cattle team roundup into the trailer was challenging yet we really laughed and really worked as a team.! Met wonderful people. The owners are lovely people and have created a well oiled machine at this ranch. Meaghan and other's informed us before each new adventure. I didn't want to leave!! Look forward to next year!! I wouldn't miss it!
Rooms: Very comfortable bed and pillows. I was very happy there are no TV's! They do have Wi-Fi
Food & drinks: The breakfast lunch and dinner were delicious not to mention the decadent desserts!!

We just left an incredible week at Hunewill and are already planning a return trip next year. Our family has been to Alisal in Santa Barbara and Paws Up in Montana, which were very luxurious, but felt more like a spa resort next to a ranch, and not a true ranch experience like Hunewill. The wranglers, staff, and family are the most welcoming, friendly, and attentive Ive ever experienced. The animals are beautiful, well trained and obviously well cared for. Bring your own wine and alcohol to enjoy with the delicious meals and be sure to pack your favorite bathroom amenities since the lodging is very comfortable but not lavish. The days are packed with riding and the nighttime activities like wagon rides, campfire smores, and square dance lessons had our family in fits of laughter. After everyone went to bed we would lay in the yard to watch the stars before dragging ourselves to bed for another action packed day. It was truly magical.
