This trail is gorgeous. This time of year brings a rainbow of native wildflowers. After the 2 mile mark, tree canopy is no more, due to the LNU Lightning Complex fire in 2020. Bring lots of water and food. And please pick up your dog's poop, don't leave it in a bag by the side of the trail.

March 27th in the late afternoon rain only person on the trail . Dope rock formations 4.5 miles (1,300 elevation up) Dog-friendliness: Trailhead sign states dogs are allowed off leash if under voice control. Only a few ticks found on my two pups. I was the only one there on a rainy weekday afternoon

It's all up hill from the base in Calistoga. The trail is not smooth, so hiking poles if you're not entirely sure footed might be a good idea. The views start getting really spectacular at about 2.5 miles up the trail. It has some shade but I'd stay away from any midday hikes in the hot months and of course there is the rattlesnake issue.

Love bike guiding here given the views and the technical challenges. Come ride with us at Vine Trail Adventures.
