This is the place to go if you are a vet in need of the services. I was able to get counseling for my PTSD & TBI from OIF/ OEF. The vet center helped me with the VA Disability Process, the entire process took less then 6 months start to finish. I was awarded 70% at first in 2017, then reevaluated in 2019, received 100% Permanent & Total VA Disability. This is where you go for help, this is where you start, also had other guys in here for homeless veteran assistance.

I'm fed up. They were all so nice, but that was no help to me. After years of my VA primary care provider doing nothing, I finally walked in to the Vet Center. They were not able to change my treatment plan from the VA provider. As a medic I feel like I did the minimum of behavioral health assessments, but I'm convinced that I've done more to assess my Soldiers in 15 minutes than the Vet Center, VA hospital, and VSO had done for me over the course of years. I begged everyone to explain my assessment or treatment plan, but I got nothing until my VA claim letter, which was general anxiety disorder, and nothing else. Talking things out just gave me more anxiety and my symptoms got worse. I tried the White House vet hotline, who refereed me to the VA, who told me quite frankly that they will never approve me for outside care, which I understand. Why would they pay someone else when the VA wants the funding themselves? The IG doesn't get involved with general treatment disputes. Every hotline I called seemed to think that if you were accepted as a patient, then you are receiving treatment. There is no measurement of effectiveness. The VA is completely self-monitored. I feel that the Vet Center is like any other therapist. If you come in to talk for no reason, then you're making them more money than actual treatment. I gave the VA way more time and patience than was needed to deserve my opinion, just as I gave the military everything I had. I genuinely regret every minute of my service.
