I'm really grateful to come here and train, knowing that I am learning battle tested and combat ready movements that are functional and legit. There is a plethora of good, honest training partners.

The level of instruction at CSW is top notch. This is arguably the best MMA camp in northern OC. CSW sets itself apart because the grappling (catch wrestling) and stk striking are built to be used in MMA. The owner of this facility, Erik Paulson, is one of the pioneers of MMA in America and one of the first practitioners of BJJ in the States as well. This is one of the only places left where you can learn catch wrestling. As an out of town visitor they have the option of paying $300 for 10 day passes that dont expire. I believe they also have a weekly unlimited pass for a set amount too so dont be shy to visit if youre in the area for a longer stay. I had a situation where I was unaware that light knees were not allowed during sparring and a student went full roid rage and threw hard punches to my face enough to give me a concussion instead of just letting me know that knees were illegal in sparring. I had another incident where a student wasnt letting go of a heel hook after I tapped his leg for 5 seconds. I have a higher risk of bleeding or injury training when I train here for whatever reason. The instructors partake in live rounds so its difficult for them to monitor whats going on but the tough atmosphere of the gym might have a tendency to breed more aggressive students. Overall, CSW is a great hardcore MMA gym in the area and theres a lot of knowledge that exists in those walls, almost like a dark arts that isnt commonly taught at most gyms.
