2nd year in a row taking my Firsties to Chetwyn Farm. Students, chaperones, and I have had an awesome experience both years! Parents and students all immediately thank me for organizing the field trip! Family runned farm and you can feel that family love passed on to the visitors.

So, I work at farmers markets selling organic gourmet mushrooms, including the HaywarFarmers Market on B Street. I was introduced to their advocadoes about a year and a half ago, and I just absolutely have to blow my horn over this family-run business. As long as I've been in the fine/gourmet food industry (40+ years!), I can't say I've ever been enchantd by the "Green Goddess" (an apparently common appellation for this luscious fruit), often turned off by the cost, quality and shelf life of this expensive fruit. When it come to avocadoes, I have never found a better quality, flavor, shelf life or value as I have one the ones from Chetwyn Farms. In fact, it's safe to say Chetwyn Farm avocadoes have completely changed my opinion and desire for this always in demand product. So much so that now, I cannot imagine beginning my day without a bit of their avocadoes spread over two slices of lightly-toasted dark rye bread with a couple of farm fresh heirloom tomato slices and a pinch of kosher salt. If you either avoid avocadoes for the reasons I listed, or just haven't yet been seduced by this seductive fruit,i cannot stress enough how you should give their crops a try.
